6.6L Duramax Diesel Engine LBZ
This version of the Duramax actually debuted in 2006 as the 2006 LLY and lasted through the end of that model year. The designation LBZ was introduced mid-year and continued into the 2007 model year. Its redesign was due to a need to pair with the new Allison six-speed transmission. The LBZ also featured advanced computer tuning, allowing it to create both more power and more torque. Its new design included stronger engine blocks to support the increased power and torque. The LBZ creates 360 bhp @ 3200 RPM and 650 lb ft torque @ 1600 RPM.
